Impact Camp '09: The Walls Came Down

The Walls Came down”

This 4 day camp was powerful! We saw: Transformed lives – Relationships being built - Friendships strengthened – and our faith in God made stronger. There were so many firsts at IMPACT Camp.  For some, it was a 1st: to lead P&W - to be leaders - to not sleep at all - to dance - to pray out loud - to share – to be at IMPACT camp.

God gave ‘Uncle’ Ronald a vision this year for the Camp: the Walls Came Down. Yup! God’s promises are always ‘Yes and Amen’. It was wonderful to experience and taste the goodness of God. Many walls (fear, insecurity, selfishness, etc) were torn down.

This is only the beginning. See you next year at IMPACT Camp.

Explosive Encounter 2

By now...you would have figured out that 'globe' (Australia) means 'bulb' (in Singapore). Yup...be the light to wherever you are. You can be the great influence that you are called to be by God - just keep tapped in to Him as your source.

It was a fun-filled event with our pastor Brenden Brown (Sydney, Hillsong Church) together with Nathan and Daniel. There was much laughter, games, a concert, and great fellowship. All at EE2 thoroughly enjoyed themselves and could relate to the testimonies shared in the '60 minute talk show with Jaz and Nate'. We can't wait for the next Explosive Encounter!

IMPACT Praise Party 4

The best IPP4 thus far with over 100 guests and a concert by Youths for Youths that was out of this universe.  Not only that, we put up our 1st ever Carnival with arcade games, balloon sculpting, wii stations, electronic basketball and giant janga...the place was overflowing with people and excitement.  Then...the outdoor BBQ with delicious food accompanied by a cool breeze was super. THANK U everyone for making this happen.  And THANK YOU GOD for making it a success.

IMPACT Alive Party

It was a fantastic party filled with hi-praise, testimonies, food, games and fellowship - and even a birthday celebration. We could not stop laughing and having a great time. And just feeling God's presence and touch during the message and altar ministry ...was so fabulous. God is just WONDERFUL.

Mission Trip to Cambodia

Contributions from Ting Wei and Melissa Go

I came back to Singapore with many memories, teachings and experiences from my very first mission trip to Cambodia.

I am most thankful for everything I have in Singapore because the living conditions in Cambodia were no good at all. God taught me to live a simple, joyful and more meaningful life through the Cambodians’ simple and happy life. I used to worry a lot and this placed extra burdens on myself. He has taught me to decrease so that He can increase in me. I learned to depend on God for everything. This gives me peace and sets me free from burden.

God also taught me about true worship. I used to get easily distracted during worship. In Cambodia, God showed me that He would always open the heavens if I have the desire and heart to worship Him. It is not about the sound, singers, songs or the musicians. It’s ABOUT ME! I have to be open to receive from God and seek Him with my heart.

I was also touched by the unity of our team. Before going to Cambodia, I thought we would have a hard time working together. However, God proved me wrong. We were united in everything we did because our hearts were willing to work together. We went to a village church in Samrong Yong to help paint 2 rooms, do carpentry work and convert a resource room. We were not just united but we worked joyfully together without complaints. We were so focused on helping the poor I believe anyone could have seen Jesus in our actions! God can make us work efficiently when our hearts are willing.

The very last thing that I've learned is that this trip did not happen by accident. It was long planned by God for our team to go and bless the Cambodians as well as be blessed by having breakthroughs in our own lives. All praises to God!

Sosai Preang (Praise the Lord!)

Ting Wei

Wow! This was a trip I have never experienced before. When we arrived at the Cambodian airport, we were picked up by a small bus for meant for 10 people. But we managed to squeeze all 18 of us plus 3 Cambodian friends as well as our luggage into the bus. Although it was uncomfortable, it was fun.

From this trip, I learned to appreciate what I have. Sometimes I complain and do not thank God for what I have but when I saw how the Cambodians lived, it really touched my heart. They are not as blessed as I am but yet they are happy and joyful. I thought only wealthy people were happy. I was wrong and God really changed my perspective.

On our second night, we attended the youth meeting in New Life Centre Cambodia. I always thought we could only feel God’s presence if we had good music at a meeting. But I was wrong again! It is not about the music or the preacher, it is all about our desire and willingness to be open to what God wants to do. When we are willing, God will use us powerfully and it will be easy to connect with Him. I had such a powerful encounter with God that I started to speak in tongues. That was my first time speaking in tongues!

Another day, we went to a village church in Samrong Yong to help paint 2 rooms. We needed to repair the tables and chairs also. We have never done this kind of work before but thank God we managed to do it. I am proud of our team as we did our very best. Without teamwork and the presence of God, we would not be able to do it. It was the best experience that I ever had.

I am glad I went on this mission trip and I thank God for giving me this opportunity. The experiences have really changed my life.

God bless you.

Melissa Go

Kulture Cross Crew

Performance at the President’s Beat 2009, 30 January

by Benezeer Seow

Our performance before President S R Nathan took place at Raffles Institution’s school hall. We (Kulture Cross Crew) were the opening performance for the whole event.  Whew! Every one of us worked really hard for this event as it was our public ‘debut’.

At first we hated the intense practices because of the long hours and the clashes between different people’s schedule, but when we were nearing the event itself, we were enjoying the practices.  We even looked forward to every practice. Even though we had disagreements and arguments at some points, we managed to sort it out and all of us were united as one.

We were really nervous when we were at the venue itself, just a few hours before the actual performance. We were preparing our stage attire, our dance moves, and trying to calm ourselves in anticipation of being called up.

Finally we were on stage. It was quite an experience because of the VIPs watching us. But we gave it our all, and our dance ended with a BANG. It was truly enjoyable. What an honor to have danced in front of the President as ambassadors of NLCC.

I believe that in the future, God will use us mightily to reach out to the nations. Through our hip hop, we hope to influence the younger generation. As we strive to be the best, we want to be dancers for our Lord Jesus. In my heart, I really believe God is going to bring us to higher places to impact people for Christ. As the first generation, Kulture Cross Crew, I believe this ministry is gonna make a difference.
