We look forward to an exciting year in 2010 to see the Igniters do well in their family life, careers, ministry...and more. We will see the hand of God in using us to touch others and the nations. God bless, Ignite!
Ignite "LIVE!"
Pra1ze Revoluz1on
24 Feb 2010
This was one 'event'...or rather wonderful meeting...where we got together as a whole group to enjoy our 1st IGNITE "LIVE!"Praise & Worship.
What's Ignite "LIVE!"? It's a time when all of us, Igniters, come together to fellowship, learn together, worship, bond.... Really, we just want to keep things fresh and dynamic, and allow for different unique expressions to flow. Lzast year, we had a picnic and movie night and megazip..... And this year we just wanted to kick off our combined meeting with a celebration of PRAISE.
What was significant at this meeting was the time of blessing of each lifeNet leader. It was exciting to see members praying for their leaders. And Paul (overseer) and Dorcas were so appreciative of the spontaneous and heartfelt prayer from you guys.
Well, don't forget - this year's vision is IGNITE1 = to be UNITED in our mission to see God's will being done in Ignite and our church, plus to see each other grow in an environment of love and concern. Amen!

Chinese LifeNet on Resurrection Sunday
4 Apr 2010
Bravo to our Chinese LifeNet made up of very enthusiastic and fervent men and women who meet every Sunday before service. On Resurrection Sunday they got together to put up a heartfelt and touching song and dance item. You would not have seen their many practices and effort, but they had the best attitude in wanting to do their best - kudos to all involved. So very proud of you guys. When is your next performance to bless the church?

Cycling at Ubin by Gek Siang/Liling
16 Jan 2010
We began our new year with Ubin cycling organized by Lydia. We were joined by 12 igniters and our special guest, Mun Leng. @ 9am we took a bum boat to our 1st stop - Mun Leng’s kampong house - where we stopped by to greet her parents. We city dwellers were terribly impressed by their “Zen-lifestyle” but mostly we were so envious that her 3 doggies, 4 cats (plus 8 birds & 1 “shivering” parrot) lived in such perfect harmony.
After a safety-briefing, we set off on our 2 hour Ubin-cycling with Lydia as tour guide and Mun Leng as tour leader. Praise God that the weather was perfect! A warm but gentle breeze accompanied us and we marveled at the beauty of nature during the whole journey. Praise God (x10) for His Grace that we all managed to “survive” the 2 hour workout! Sweating, aching legs and tired facial muscles, coz we were laughing so much!
To make the day more perfect and to live up to NLCC’s definition of “fellowship”, the final stop was seafood lunch at where Mun Leng’s mum work - seafood restaurant. Enjoying the fresh seafood cooked with LOVE by Mun Leng’s mum, with all my sweaty brothers and sisters coupled by lots of laughter in sunny Ubin, all of us had very healthy appetites and plates of dishes were cleared out within minutes! People could have easily mistaken that we had cycled for the last 20 hours!
Now we are discussing what we shall order for lunch should we go for the 4-hours of cycling J ………Ha, so are you in?
.......highlights of the lunch was Calamari ala Ubin and Escargot "Gong Gong"....yum, yum, yumalicious...! |

Tribal Nite BBQ
27 Nov 2009
All sorts of tribal gear appeared from African, Taiwanese and even Red-indian...what a sight to behold! Even our leaders were game to turn up in their fabulous outfits. What can we say...? It was a BBQ to remember with everyone having a fantastic time. The bbq chefs sweat over the pit just to feed us (many thanks), and there was good cheer all around. What's next....?

Mid-Autumn Festival Party
3 Oct 2009
Our party area was lit up with colourful lanterns and we had a wonderful time of getting to know our new friends from mainland China. We also were treated to a tea-making demonstation and tasting byour igniter, Jean. The night breeze was also a nice touch to our buffet under the stars, together with the really exciting lantern making competition that followed. Thanks, Ignite, for blessing our Chinese friends and amking them feel at home.

MegaZip Adventure-Picnic
26 Sept 2009
All we can say is it was well worth it to do some height-defying 'stunts', to para-jump and then ride down past the canopy of trees to land on the Siloso islet way down there. 24 Igniters conquered new 'heights' at this park. So what's next??? Yahoo...! It was a really FULfilling time of flying, fellowship and food...
Thanks to Joyce, Erlyn and Lnet for doing a fab job of organizing this event.

Movie Nite: Faith Like Potatoes
16 Sept 2009
Our sanctuary was transformed into a picnic area - or rather - a GIANT LIVING ROOM. What a fun way to watch a movie together. Not only were we inspired by the true story of Angus Bachan, we were also grateful for the memorable experience that Dody, Edy and Lnet created for us all. More please...

New LifeNet: Paya Lebar
May 2009
It was a meaningful and powerful time of worship, prayer and laying of hands to send out Edy, his wife Yuli, and a team comprising Dody, Lala, Friska, Rachelle and Debbie - to start a new LifeNet in Paya Lebar. The love and unity was truly evident in the LifeNet led by bro Yohanes. It was such a proud moment to see people growing and so united in their friendships and love God.
God bless you, Edy and Yuli, as you embark on this new journey that will be full of adventure as you partner with the Holy Spirit to lead and love your LifeNet to great things in God.

IGNITE Prayer Time
Fortnighyly on Fridays 7pm
On Good Friday, 26 of us gathered for Worship and to P.U.S.H (Pray Until Something Happens). We hope more of you will join us in this Prayer Call on Fridays - to be humble in doing what God wants us to do faithfully and persistently.
"It was an AWESOME time at last Friday's Ignite Prayer time. The praise and worship was EXTRAGAVANT and LOUD and the prayers of the saints ascended to the throne room of God. We had a turnout of 26 Igniters from the different LNs praying in one ACCORD. We aimed to pray for all 3 services. What it did was it saturated the spiritual atmosphere for the services.
In one of the three prayer groups, a prophetic-intercessory word went forth that the ‘disappointments’ and ‘burdens’ of people will be lifted off and not rest on people. Can you imagine how excited we were when Pastor preached about these 2 things on Good Friday? God met with us as we met Him.
I spoke to Pastor after Friday's service and he told me that he could feel the "spiritual heat" generating from the services. I believe it was because the people were in UNITY.
Let's continue to press in to pray as never before. Power is released when the hearts of the people are joined together in seeking after God. United prayer leads to REVIVAL."
So, dear Igniters, keep on pressing in to pray, whether in your own private time or corporately. We love hearing God and praying His Will...and we hope you discover the treasure of doing this too.
Love,
Paul and Dorcas |

Testimony by Jean Chong
25 Mar 2009
Dear sisters & brothers - God has done something good in my life. I believe there will be more testimonies to share as we continue to seek God and obey him.
I had been quite disturbed at work for the past few months as my work relationship with my boss was pretty rocky. We did not get along well with each other as I was not used to my boss’ kind of management. I did not rebel but deep within I couldn't agreed and submit. She must have known that I wasn't happy with her.
|
 |
Yet, I knew that God wanted me to be submitted to the authority placed above me, and He allowed things to happen for a reason. But, it was so hard for me to submit to her 100%. There was a lot of tension between us. No matter how hard I tried to improve the working relationship, it just did not work.
During one of the lifenet meetings, I opened up and shared this issue to seek advice and help. My lifenet leader and members encouraged me to continue to pray to Jesus for strength and grace. That night, while I was praying I felt God prompting me to write to my boss to make peace. I was nervous because of my fear of rejection. I was thinking in my mind, “What if she rejects me? What if she thinks that I am trying to fool her?” - What really convicted me to obey God was this: if I don’t learn what God wanted me to learn, I most probably would have to face the same thing over and over again until I learned it and moved on.
I took courage and asked God to guide me as to what to write and how to write. I needed to be careful with what i wrote. On Friday, I passed her the letter just before I ‘knocked off’. The moment I passed her the letter, peace was instantly restored in my heart. Praise God for his amazing love.
On Monday, I was observing her attitude towards me and I noticed a slight change. By next Friday, I was offered a promotion. Praise God! This promotion is totally out of my expectations. I only expected to work in harmony with my boss. Suddenly I remembered that before I took up this job, Pastor Simon prayed for me and gave me this prophecy: “God's favor is with you in your new job and there will be promotion for you. What God has promised, it will surely come to past”.
This special encounter with God has elevated my faith to a higher level. Our God is a beautiful God; he has make all things beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3: 11 "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
All glory and praises to God. He is the giver of life, love, hope and peace. I hope you are encouraged with what God has done for me. He will do the same for you as you seek after him.
God bless,
Jean |

ignite WARMTH Vs BBQ Pit HEAT
by Darrel Lee
Entrusted by my LifeNet leader Jimmy to arrange for all the foodstuffs for this bbq party, it gave me a chance to fellowship with many igniters.
All I can say is that the warmth & love from our igniters is much greater than the heat of the BBQ pit!
Thank you Paul, Dorcas, Liling and all igniters for having a full trust for a pre-believer like me.
From all your warmth & trust in me, I know that I am moving one step further to learn more about God's word...
“Praise the Lord !!!”... |

"The place is beautiful, the food is delicious, The best is Fellowship among the family of Christ. and the fact three of my best friends were with me is just overwhelming. It has been a harvest ground too! We invited new members to our Lifenet group."
by Frisca Tandean
|
From Debbie:
"I really enjoyed the BBQ because I had a chance to catch up with my church friends and get to know new people. I was glad to see Amanda, Harry's friend and Selvi's 2 friends, Lilu & Shirley as well as Frisca's bestfriend, Yenny. Yeah, through the BBQ we had a chance to connect with new friends. Handy brought Dody, who is Frisca's friend in US. During the BBQ, I spent time with Selvi (Frisca's cousin) who's new to our church and shared the gospel. Praise the Lord, she responded made a Salvation Decision during IGNITE BBQ. While the saints rejoiced at the BBQ, the angels also rejoiced in heaven for 1 soul being saved. Glory to God!"
|

Special Thanks to:
Paul & Dorcas – For your brilliant idea to have this bbq party & entrusting us to carry out the tasks!
Lynn & Sandra & Catherine – our brainy babes ensured for all the laughter and fun during games and combined with NLCC wackiness. POTENT COMBINATION!!!!
(PS: Just check out the picture of our brother Rocky and Alex!!)
Darrel & Terrance & Clement & Hui Ping & Florence – if not, all of us will not be able to enjoy tasty barbeque food cooked with extra dosage of L.O.V.E!
I had so much fun together with everyone & especially being able to get to know their friends! For those who missed it, too bad you can only look at our pictures and well, watch out for ignite activities in 2009!

A Female's Perspective on
"A Marriage Made in Heaven" Seminar
29 Jun 2008
A Marriage made in heaven? Is there such thing? How do I know that he is THE ONE? Which girl didn’t grow up dreaming of her perfect wedding day and hoping never to wake up one day feeling cheated? Yet our society shows us a very different picture... |
 |
With mixed feelings I went for this marriage seminar, not knowing what to expect. It was conducted by Eric and Ginny Hanson – a beautiful god-fearing couple, full of life and so in love!! Married for 20+ years with grandchildren, yet the tenderness and love between them... I sensed I’d better pay attention to what they were saying! After 3 hours of listening, I am very pleased to share with you their wisdom.
For Single ladies:
Have a real life and not be overly concerned about your “expiry date”!! If you are a god-fearing babe, Matthew 6:33 sound familiar??
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well”
(PS: But if desperation overtakes your faith, you might want to repent/fast/pray and as a last resort, kindly make an appointment FAST with your life-net leader or Pastor!)
For Ladies Receiving Calls/Praying Very Hard To Receive Them:
Marriage is not only a life-long covenant with your spouse but it is also meant to glorify God.
A 2-carat ring, his job & status, his gorgeous build, smooth face might tempt you to think you’ve struck a good deal! But remember, looks fade and waking up to this possibly-wrinkly & fat man one morning, can you still say: “Oh darling, I love you?”
It is his heart and character that we should be looking at (but if he is gorgeous, add points to that!). Ginny provided the character-quality check below. It is brutally honest but do yourself a favor and go through it.
Character-Quality Check:
Do you both share the same faith and live on biblical truth?
What does he live for?
Is he willing to serve with humility? (PS: only serving you don’t count!)
Has he got the right loving attitude?
Does he demonstrate self control (anger/money/etc)?
Is he honest and responsible? (PS: Be prepared if u put on some weight, he’ll speak the truth in LOVE)
Does he honor his parents?
Finishing the seminar listening to “Arise my Love” by Michael Card, I walked out knowing that if God wants me to marry, he’ll provide me the right man at his perfect timing. And if God is the one who blesses me with my spouse, I am very sure I will not wake up years later feeling cheated. And that I’ll be able to wake up each morning and smile to my wrinkly & fat man and say: “yes darling, I still love you!”

Open Heavens
8 Apr 2008
Dear Igniters,
We must testify of God's goodness and faithfulness! He has once again poured out his favour upon us as we trust in Him....
As real estate agents, our monthly income is very unpredictable and it can certainly vary from zero to big money. Most of you would know that the property scene hasn't been good at all the past 3-4 months. Many agents have also dropped out along the way and gone to find full-time jobs. Both Jimmy and I were not doing well in our business as well. We had many sellers, but couldn't find buyers at all. We chalked up large amounts of advertising costs each week but response was poor.
|

|
During the first quarter of this year, we were practically doing nothing at work. We had no viewings, no phone calls to entertain and worse, no income! But we had a lot of time... We spent our time connecting, calling new guests, meeting people to pray for them and spending more time at church. There were fruits coming out of this. We were happy seeing some of our ladies' spouses give their lives to Christ, the sick being healed, etc.
We trusted that the Lord will provide in terms of giving us a few big deals in a year that will keep our pockets full; that we wouldn't need to handle small cases that would take up our time and energy. Many Igniters prayed for us during this period and our lifenet was supportive as we prayed fervently for miracles to happen. Paul and Dorcas covered us in prayers too. We just did our best with the things we had and trust in God our Jehovah Jireh, our Provider.
On Saturday, 5 April, I (Erlyn) closed a case after bringing buyers to 3 places for viewing. Quite good income... That same afternoon, I brought another set of buyers to view cluster houses and they shortlisted one house. At that time, I felt the wave of divine favour that will come our way. I know it's from God. Jimmy and I prayed... Yesterday, we went for a 2nd viewing and they liked the house so much, they put up an offer! I managed to close the deal today and the commission is really good!
2 deals just over the weekend!! Praise the Lord! We know the floodgates of Heaven is open! Blessings upon blessings will come! Not just into our lives, but to you as well!! Be encouraged, be patient, be faithful, most importantly, BE PRAYERFUL!!
Love and Blessings,
Erlyn and Jimmy

Letter to Igniters:
In Training
25 Mar 2008
"What are you going to do with the time you have left?" We were confronted with these words from Bishop TD Jakes when we were at the Hillsong Conference last year. We just knew then that our perspective of things in God's Kingdom and here on this earth had to once again make a radical shift.
Everything before this suddenly paled in comparison to our Heavenly Father's glory and His kingdom. Worry over our sons' future, our lack, our ministires...even ourselves - all took on a new light. Its not that these things were unimportant, but we knew that God was going to look after us no matter what.
New zeal and fire were being placed upon us by the Holy Spirit.
When we returned to Singapore, we were faced with the greatest challenge of a personal tragedy which we did not see coming at us. Yet, God was with us all the way. Nothing was going to stop us and what God wanted for us.
So, dear Igniters - we urge you to start looking at your life; in 5 years time, 10 years, 50 years....what will you be doing? It is our hope that you all will surpass us in what we do to bring glory to God. You are young, creative, teachable, energetic - great traits in making wonderful and powerful leaders.
God has sent new ones into our fold. We need to treasure and look after them well. God is looking for shepherds who would care and protect the sheep. We hope you will be counted as one who would 'feed my sheep' as Jesus told the Apostle Peter. We hope you will say to God, "Lord, here I am. Use me."
Now is the time to be IN TRAINING: read and study God's Word, pray and intercede, and love the people.

With Love,
PAUL and DORCAS

BBQ On the Sand, Under the Stars
26 Jan 2008
Our 1st gathering for the year was at the beach with wonderfully cool sea breeze. The grill was hot, the food sizzling and we had a great time hanging out at the East Coast. The kids were building sand castles and we young adults were tucking into the good food and fellowship. What a nice way to start the new year. C U at our next gathering.
